electric bill

Oh what a week! No baptisms or crazy events to talk about, just good ol' fashioned missionary work. Not sure why I was so enthusiastic to start cause I probably got your hopes up.

Monday and Tuesday we had Gloucester stay over for p-day and District Meeting Tuesday morning. It went pretty well I thought. It was the first one we had in like 2 months cause of interviews and mission conference and stuff. I wasn't complaining. Have to do one this week though too which means I need new material real quick-like. Gotta come up with something...

Someone smashed into a bank in Burgess.
We were among the first on the scene, on the way to church.
But yeah did that. Also did some more service than usual. Helped a family move out of the branch. They had a big piano and really small Civil War style doors. Not a good mix. Got it all in though in good enough time. Also mowed some lawns and helped clean at a restaurant and stuff. Had some good lessons with people we thought were dogging us. There's an older guy we're teaching that we thought was just fed up with us but turns out there were legitimately busy. Real sad when you pre-judge, you know? He's still got some work to do so we're trying to help him there. The only other close investigator is the mom of the girl we baptized. She's still pretty excited about church and stuff so we just need to get her over the hump.

We had no investigators at church which is a first for the Jones/Parker era in Kilmarnock. Oh well, just gotta move on. But make sure it doesn't happen again, in an authoritative angry way. Whatever. There's no crying in missionary work! Unless you're a sister.

So I don't know what else to say so I decided to write some of the dumb little stories we've had here that I just neglect to write about. One time we were at the church during mutual but were leaving early. Our church parking lot has some spaces that face the road with only a small patch of grass separating them. So we could easily drive over them without any trouble and avoid driving all the way around to the exit. So this time we did. As we pulled out though we had to stop on the grass for a car driving on the road, but they ended up stopping when they saw us. And who was in the car? The high councilor from the branch, his wife and two daughters, who've been in the branch forever and made a lot of effort to get the building we currently have. We laughed and laughed and laughed at the ridiculousness of it but the family never said anything about it. Guess they forgot!
Us bonfiring our floor. It was in a burn pile, don't worry.
And we had adult supervision.

We also got to watch a cigarette-addicted lady try playing Xbox and smoke a cigarette at the exact same time while we were teaching a lesson (not to her though). She used her face to move the left joystick and held the controller in her right hand and smoked with her left. We almost lost it. And then another time this sweet old lady was trying to tell someone what to do to get answers about the church and how they just need to "get on the internet and get to lsd.org and learn all about it!". The way she said it and her exuberance in it made it funnier. And it's not a typo.

So yeah some little stories. There's more but they require more explaining. Hope everything's goin' cool. And I'll talk to you next week!
